The Quinces have been keeping busy this summer, despite the oppressive Texas heat. Amare is enrolled in swim lessons and goes each night with Daddy to practice kicking his legs in the water, jumping off the side of the pool, blowing bubbles under water, etc. He is having a great time! He is loving his big boy Elmo bed, although we don’t think he has caught on to the fact that he can just get up and leave his bedroom whenever he wants yet (which we are not complaining about!).
His eating still comes and goes in stages—he’ll go a few days and eat really well and then eat practically nothing for the next few days. I’ve read that this is common with toddlers but it is aggravating! The best food bets right now are chicken nuggets, cheese ravioli, yogurt, applesauce, and fruit. Amare is singing and saying his ABC’s and can count to about 15. He likes to count each step as he goes down the stairs. He still loves Elmo and Finding Nemo. It’s clear that he loves being a big brother and that he ADORES the babies.
Julius and Adrian are wonderful babies. They are just so mellow most of the time, such easy babies. They have been sleeping through the night for the past month and are so easy to put down at night. When Amare was a baby, you could rock him to sleep and then, as soon as you tried to lay him down in the crib he would sense that you were going to be putting him down and he would wake up and start screaming. These guys are different. They fall asleep and you can move them wherever you want! Both boys enjoy bath time and riding in the stroller. They are still nursing when we are at home and get three 6-oz bottles during the day at daycare. Daycare says that when one of them gets upset they just lay them both in the same crib and they stop crying.
Adrian is particularly smiley and is known for handing out smiles to anyone that smiles at him. He always seems to have something to say—he is constantly babbling. It seems like Adrian is quite the mama’s boy lately—his eyes follow me wherever I go around the room and there are times when he is upset where I am the only one who can comfort him. He is really into the exersaucer right now and has mastered the art of using his hands to actually move some of the toys.

Julius appears to be a little more observant and generally more happy-go-lucky. He is always watching Amare run all over the place and is always aware of where Mommy and Daddy are in the room. He is famous for his adorable giggle…when you get him laughing, watch out! He thinks we are all hysterical! He enjoys tummy time and is really good at propping himself up to look around. Big J also likes to blow raspberries and spit bubbles.
Gyasi and I are both working and trying to keep the house in order. We have a very definite routine each evening to get everything done (make dinner, feed babies/Amare, wash dishes, wash bottles, bath time, etc). Life isn’t exactly spontaneous but it sure is an adventure every day!
