2 Weeks Old!

(Above: Julius in blue, Adrian in red)
The twins are now two weeks old and yet it seems like they have been here with us forever. We spent the first week on our own and were lucky enough to have my aunts (Sue and Kathy) fly down from Pennsylvania to help out for week two. Let's just say week two has been much easier than week one! With twins and a toddler, you just need more hands and help. They fly out tomorrow and my dad and Patti arrive to take over. I wonder if they know what they are in for...

Amare has graduated to the toddler room at daycare! He transitioned fully this week and is now the youngest in a room of 18-24 month olds. He is loving it! They have more of a curriculum-based day, learning letters and numbers and doing art projects. They sleep on cots rather than in cribs. Amare is also proving to be a great big brother! Each morning he wakes up saying "babies? babies?" and loves to dish out kisses, find pacifiers, etc. Check out the pictures of Amare helping with the recycling and acting like a baby sitting in the bouncy seat--we try to keep him out of it but he is always sitting in it! I guess you pick and choose your battles...I can only imagine how much fun these boys will have together in the near future!

Julius and Adrian are also doing well. They had their two-week checkup on Thursday and have both regained their birthweight. Here are their stats:
Julius--6lbs 8oz, 20.25 inches, 14 inch head
Adrian--6lbs 9oz, 20 inches, 14 inch head
They still look a lot alike, although we notice that Julius has a small patch (like 8 hairs) of darker hair on the front of his head and his nose is a bit more narrow. When they are in their car seats wearing hats and blankets, I can't tell them apart easily. They do appear to have different personalities, though. Adrian is relatively mellow and patient. He likes to clasp his hands and is always looking around to see what his brother is doing. Julius is a little more demanding--he wants to be fed when he's hungry and he isn't shy about letting you know it! We also joke that he is dramatic because he is always grabbing at his face as if to say "oh, I've had the worst day!" Both boys are so sweet and are actually sleeping relatively well so far. We're very lucky.

Gyasi and I are holding up. It's very, very, very exhausting. Between the three boys, there is always someone to change, feed, bathe, comfort, swaddle, chase after, or entertain. And if that isn't keeping us busy enough and we have a moment to sit down, we are reminded of the laundry to do/fold, the bottles to wash, dinner to prepare, the picking up that needs to happen, or the errand that needs to be run. Having help is awesome but we are all still so busy (even with the help). Life is crazy but we are so lucky to have a happy, healthy family!
